VPOD: The Art of Affluence

Think only us lucky gals living in New York or LA have access to the best displays of vintage haute couture? Au contraire! From now through May 2010(!) anyone passing through Charlotte, North Carolina, can pop into The Mint Museum of Art and drool over the exhibit The Art of Affluence: Haute Couture and Luxury Fashions 1947-2007. Masterpieces by everyone from Chanel, Dior, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga abound--each one painstakingly hand-selected by Fine Art Director, Charles Mo, from the museum's collection of over 10,000 pieces.

Today's VPOD features one of the masterpieces on display. This lovely haute couture suit by Chanel features net lace over wool and of course, intricate workmanship and detail.

Though not officially vintage--it's from the early turn of this century--it's sure to be appreciated by future vintage fashionistas!
